Did you make enough mistakes this season? Are you troubled by some of them? Or are you fighting with nasty effects of some? Well, today, some friend sent me a piece that made great sense for me — and I hope it does for you. I call it Wisdom for Mistake Makers:
When I started using pen in my primary school, and I made a mistake, I would try hard to erase it before submitting to my teacher. Sometimes, I used chalk to clean my mistake but it later re-appeared. So I began to use saliva. It worked, but only to leave holes in my books. My teachers then used to beat me for being outrageously dirty. But all I tried to do was to cover my error.
Can you relate with story so far? Have you been trying to hide your mistakes or struggle to click the delete button without much success? Even me, there are things I wish were NOT written on any page in my book of history, but, well, I wrote them myself! So? So continue to read the story below:
One day, a kind hearted teacher who loved me so much called me aside and he said, “Anytime you make a mistake, just cross it and move on.” He further said, “Trying to erase your mistakes would only damage your book to nothing.” I told him in protest that I don’t want people to see my mistake.
That sounds like you. No, like me! I don’t want people to see my mistake. I now even own it: MY mistake! THEY shouldn’t see it. Very common, not so?
My loving teacher laughed and said, “Trying to erase your mistake will make more people know about your mess and the stigma is for life“.
Have you made some mistakes in life? Listen; cross it over and move on.
- Have you goofed at your workplace? Cross it over and move on.
- Have you erred in your marriage / relationship? Cross it over and move on.
- Have you made a financial mistake in your personal life? Cross it over and move on.
- Have you bathed in spiritual dirt? Whatever; just cross it over and move on.
Indeed, “Don’t expose yourself as a result of trying to cover your mistakes. Better things are ahead of you. Strike [this season’s] mistakes and move into [the new season] with a fresh note.
