Why do some people succeed while others languish in unsuccessful living – whatever success means to you? Many reasons! Major among them: REFUSAL TO PAY THE PRICE, not doing “all it takes” to achieve that success. If you do not pay the price for the product you want, you won’t get it indeed.

But do you know that the success keys are found in the simplest of places? Today, we will go to the poultry house and learn a thing or two. I received these lessons from a friend who got them from another who had got them from another too! To succeed, learn the 10 lessons from a HEN:

  1. She first lays enough eggs before sitting on them. That is GOOD PLANNING. If you fail to plan, you have planned to fail. (It’s like those who do not vote; they have voted because it is the same as saying: Whoever you vote for will be my choice too!)
  2. When she starts sitting on her eggs, she minimizes movement. That is DISCIPLINE. So, discipline yourself so the world won’t need to. Allow the pain of discipline so that you won’t go through the pain of regret.
  3. She physically loses weight while sitting on her eggs due to decreased feeding. That is SACRIFICE and SELF DENIAL. You have to give up something in order to go up somewhere.
  4. She can sit on eggs from another hen. That is INDISCRIMINATE and GENEROUS. To achieve as many of your dreams as possible, help as many people as possible to achieve as many of their own dreams as possible.
  5. She sits on her eggs for 21 days, patiently waiting and even if they don’t hatch she will still lay eggs again. That is FAITH, HOPE and COURAGE. Without faith, you cannot please the Creator. Without hope, you are not alive. Without courage, you will die many times before your actual death.
  6. She detects unfertilized eggs and rolls them out. That is SENSITIVE and DISCERNING. Know when the donkey has died and don’t keep hitting it to move forward!
  7. She abandons the rotten eggs and starts caring for the hatched chicks even if it is only one. That is WISE, CONSCIOUS and REALISTIC. Focus on things and activities that have a high return on your investment.
  8. No one can touch her chick. That is PROTECTIVE LOVE. If you just neglect your treasures, you will lose them. Whatever you do not protect and/or manage, you lose.
  9. She gathers all her Chicks together. That is UNITY of PURPOSE. Where there is unity, a blessing is commanded. Be internally united and externally harmonious. I know that without a vision, people perish but without people, the vision also perishes. Unite.
  10. She doesn’t abandon her chicks before they mature. That is MENTORING Live your dreams, one day they shall hatch and you shall see them grow. Whose hand are you holding? Multiply your impact in the lives of others. That is eternal.
