Board Competence Training
Program Goal: “To exceptionally equip the Board members with the 21st century non-negotiable, global boardmanship knowledge and skills for improved board competence in furtherance of the organization’s mission.”
A board is a critical aspect of an organization and a key component of corporate governance. It exists to ensure that the organization fulfils its mission by bringing accountability and support together in the areas of organizational purpose, finance, the director and external representation, etc. Society expects boards to balance profitability with social needs of the communities within which organizations operate. Whereas most boards competently doing this by shaping organizational strategy, others are painfully micromanaging to the detriment of the mission. To deal with these issues, the BCT Program delves into the depths of the following 6 modules:
# | Module Title | The Module’s Point of Focus |
1 | The Call for Board Relevance: | Must This Board Continue to Exist? |
2 | Board Composition Blunders: | Do We Have the Right People Here? |
3 | Positioned for Success: | Which Board Development Tools Do I Need to Flourish? |
4 | The Value-Adding Board: | What does it take to be a really good board member? |
5 | Trust is a Must: | Who holds the board accountable? |
6 | The Binocular: | Board Assessment and Action Planning. |
Please note that this is not a collection of academic presentations on boards.
Instead, it is a heart-to-heart conversation on what really matters, facilitated in a manner that deepens learning, by people who are on boards themselves, in a training environment that engages board members at an intellectual and emotive level.
Details of this training are available on request.
